Update - Febraury 9, 2026
We celebrated a ceremonial groundbreaking for the next stretch of the Swamp Rabbit Trail. This planned 2-mile paved shared-use path will extend the southern Golden Strip section, representing an important step toward transforming a standalone segment into a connected network designed for everyday use—not just recreation.
Once complete, the trail will help link neighborhoods, schools, and parks, including Mulberry Estates, Fountain Inn High School, and Bryson Elementary School, supporting safer walking, biking, and access throughout the community.
Proposed Completion · Spring 2026
Bids went out the beginning of November from UGATA, seeking proposals for clearing, grading and construction of an approximately 1.85 mile paved, shared-use path to extend the existing Fountain Inn section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
This new addition will directly connect Simpsonville and Fountain Inn residents to Fountain Inn High School, Bryson Elementary, and the CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park, marking exciting progress toward a healthier, more connected community.
October 2025: With the help of partners Upstate Greenways and Trails Alliance (UGATA), the City of Fountain Inn is nearing construction on a 2.5 mile extension of the Fountain Inn Swamp Rabbit Trail. This project will connect with the upcoming SCDOT Bryson Drive Multi-use trail project to reach the Fountain Inn City limits. UGATA will solicit construction bids this fall with construction expected to begin in Spring of 2026.
