Spring Hill Suites coming to Fountain Inn SC

The City of Fountain Inn is pleased to announce that a SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel is planned for 300 Jones Street, marking a major milestone in the continued revitalization of downtown. The project, led by Fountain Inn Hotel Partners, LLC, formerly known as Project Irish, will transform an empty lot (former convenience store site) into a 109-room hotel with 111 parking spaces—bringing a much-anticipated lodging option to downtown Fountain Inn.

This exciting development has been thoughtfully in the works for several years. In November, Fountain Inn Hotel Partners, LLC, initiated the process with the Fountain Inn Planning Commission and City Council, requesting a rezoning of the property from commercial (C-2) to Flexible Review District (FRD). The rezoning, which received unanimous Planning Commission and City Council approval, is intended to enable the project to qualify for state textile mill tax credits.

In addition to delivering high-quality accommodations, the hotel will enhance surrounding infrastructure, including new sidewalks along two sides of the property.

“This new hotel represents more than just new development—it’s the anchor our downtown needs,” said City Administrator Shawn Bell. “Fountain Inn quite literally began as an inn welcoming travelers over a century ago, and this project both honors that history and supports our future. We envision visitors parking their cars and walking to local downtown favorites. We have so many unique shops and restaurants to enjoy. This hotel will bring visitors seven days a week, directly benefiting our local businesses.”

Once completed, the $20 million project is expected to generate approximately 75 temporary construction jobs and create 10 permanent hospitality jobs. In addition to lodging for travelers and tourists, the hotel opens the door for Fountain Inn to host conferences and events previously limited by a lack of local accommodations.

“We’ll finally be able to host Municipal Association, Main Street, and related conferences—something we couldn’t do before because attendees would stay in neighboring cities,” said Bell. “This hotel will be transformative for our downtown.”

The SpringHill Suites project reflects the City’s commitment to partnering with private developers and leveraging smart incentives to promote growth. The City has committed up to $1.1 million in economic development assistance for infrastructure improvements and incentives, including sidewalk enhancements, stormwater management, and limited tax rebates.
